If only spectacles
helped the blind to see -
the world would feel nicer.
If only we saw -
A kaleidoscope
of beautiful memories,
than ashes of dead dreams;
the future with new hope,
than a fear
of past failures repeating;
and
the place where we are
this moment,
is one of many milestones
on the long road,
to that hopeful future.

Long back, my Inspire My Art page had got a suggestion, “Kaleidoscope of beautiful memories”, given by Bhawana. This is also an art painted by that inspiration. Thank you, Bhawana.

this ‘if only…’ has such a positive direction! Usually ‘if only’s…’ go something like this: If only I had used the brakes..or …if only I had a million dollars….know what I mean? This ‘if only.’ could come true!
It could if we wanted to, Joanne. Thanks and glad you liked the direction I took.
- Leo.
Nice..I’ve never seen your longer work. I enjoyed and agreed with all of it.
Perhaps you have forgotten, Leah
You have seen my longer poems before too. Glad you enjoyed it and agreed. Thank you.
- Leo.
lots of if onlys man….if only more really saw…that one to me is big….i like your ponderings now how for we change them from if onlys…
That’s another question to ponder on, Brian
How to change? But that again depends on how we feel our heartbeats going. It should want to beat for the present and future than the past, though not forgetting the past in entirety.

Yes…if only…BUT, occasionally, they do come to pass…and we must cling to the if only’s that do if we are to hang on to hope. Wonderful write!
Occasionally, yes. It’s the hope that matters though. We bitch so much about life’s unfairness that we drown hope along with it too those times. Thanks Tash.
- Leo.
Yes, Leo…if only. I love how you expressed this. The kaleidoscope image especially appealed to me.
Thank you, Victoria. Glad you liked it and it appealed to you.
- Leo.
I love how you end with “if only” Leo. There is so much potential and love in every human heart if we decide to embrace it. Nicely written.
Thank you, Write Girl. Yeah, we do have lots of potential in us, just that we never see it, or see it too late.
- Leo.
so delicate and sad…great write!
Thank you, Chanzi… It’s mixed emotions I guess
- Leo.
I agree with Brian, how do we change these to the reality, not ifs? Lovely ponderings here…great take on the prompt too.
It is all dependent on our thoughts, Geraldine. If we want to, we can. And that’s another “if” isn’t it?
- Leo.
Woww Leo..hw thoughtful! nice take i must say:) yr words r so powerful!
Thank you, Madhu. Glad you felt so. Cheers!

Truly those glasses would be wonderful. Beautiful poem.
Yeah they would be, Teresa. But we only need to know that to see the world better, isn’t it?
